Kenny Dalglish has been discussing all things Celtic and what the nee manager Ange Postecoglou will be up against this summer as he looks to revive this Celtic side.

The Australian is due in at Lennoxtown later this month to begin his work with the current squad but Kenny is positive the hard work has already begun.

As quoted by the Glasgow Times, the Celtic legend made it clear he believes lots of talks will be ongoing behind the scenes.

He (Postecoglou) might not yet be in the building, but he will be already working hard, and I’m sure he will have had many Zoom calls with the existing coaches, John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan, about the squad,”

“He will also have had, and will continue to have, numerous conversations with new chief executive, Dom Mckay, and the club hierarchy. Despite the fact he was a left-field appointment, Ange has received plenty of positive publicity, and he has also spoken very well and been respectful and knowledgeable about Celtic and their history.

“It’s about what he does from now on that’s important, and he’ll want to create new heroes for the Celtic support to replace outgoing ones, such as Scott Brown and, possibly, Odsonne Edouard, if he is sold.

“It could well be he loses a couple of players before he has brought any new ones in. Whatever happens, he must be given time. Steven Gerrard was given three years to win the Premiership title.”

It’s imperative Ange comes in as informed as much as possible on what’s going on at the club and what’s required. The only real concern I would have about John Kennedy advising the new manager is he might colour Ange’s view on some of the players when all of them should begin with a clean slate.

It looks increasingly likely John will stick around for the Postecoglou era. We await confirmation from the club on this being the case.

As it pertains to transfers, we hope the manager had some ideas along with looking at players currently on Celtic’s radar. The club’s analytic department have been amassing potential signings.

It’s important we hit the ground running and to do so, Ange will need to be at his best from the word go.

Funnily enough, Postecoglou spoke about his admiration for Kenny Dalglish and how he idolised the Celtic legend as a young boy.
