Celtic legend Davie Hay believes that the international success of the Scotland National Team will give the Scottish Champions a massive boost.

As quoted by SunSport, Hay claims that the incentive of being in the team that plays at the countries first international tournament in 22 years, could lift the Scottish contingency of Neil Lennon’s with one man in particular, with Leigh Griffiths looking to become a regular again.

“Griffiths showed some amount of bottle on Thursday to step up and take that first penalty.

“The first one and the last one are so important and for a guy who has struggled in recent seasons, I thought it showed a lot of courage.

“If he wants to be in there, he needs to be doing it for Celtic week in, week out. It is to Celtic’s benefit as much as his own that he shows the talent he is capable of now on a consistent basis.”

After all the troubles that the 30-year old striker has faced in the last few years, no matter who you are it takes guts to go up and take a penalty of that magnitude and going first in the shootout really sets up the tone.

With regards to the Celtic side of things, hopefully, this is a boost not only for the Scottish boys but it is also something they can pass around the dressing room.

We need that feel-good factor back amongst the squad and something like this has the potential to change the mindset of certain players who may have been struggling this season, so far.
