Former Celtic goalkeeper and BBC pundit Pat Bonner believes that Odsonne Edouard’s upturn in form recently is related to the up and coming summer transfer window.

As quoted by the Daily Record, speaking on Sportsound, Bonner thinks that there isn’t a coincidence that the Frenchman’s form has started to come back around now, whilst having an eye on the future transfer window that will likely see him make a move away from Celtic.

“You can see now that he’s back to form, but he’s also thinking ‘The summer is coming up and if I’m going to get the move that I want then I’ve got to start putting the ball in the net and my overall play has got to show people what I can do, with a team that was struggling’.

“When he’s back on form, when you see Ryan Christie as well having to play in a different position, Rogic and Turnbull.

“You can see they have got those players in the forward positions and when they are all firing they’re really difficult to handle.”

Edouard has been here for several years at this stage, after first joining the club on loan under Brendan Rodgers in the 2017/18 season.

If he hadn’t moved on before now, this season always felt like it was inevitably going to be his last in Glasgow.

Despite having a poor season, the 23-year old finds himself at the top of the goal-scoring charts and has started to kick on a little bit dragging the side to some results.

Overall, I think it would be harsh to suggest that the only reason for his upturn in form is because he is looking for a move. Of course, that will play a factor. However, he has been extremely unlucky this season, catching Covid back in October and also having to self isolate in January. So it hasn’t been plain sailing for the Frenchman.

We seen the quality he possesses in yesterday’s 2-1 win over St Johnstone and at the minute with the situation we are in, it is a scary thought of having a side without him in it next season.
