PETER GRANT has slammed the imminent appointment of Michael Beale at Ibrox, reminding their fans that he’s not the manager he’s being made out to be.

It was claimed Beale was the tactician after ’55’, which was his first, and only trophy at Ibrox. He, like Gerrard, jumped from the ship when it became apparent that Postecoglou’s Celtic were going to be too good for them.

Now, after a few games at QPR, he’s set to head back up the road and join the Rangers. It’s an appointment that won’t make many Celtic fans fear; he sat and watched as Neil Lennon’s Celtic won trebles as his side picked up one trophy in nine attempts.

Peter Grant has played down their league win, claiming it’s easier to win the league with no fans and challenged Beale’s very recent comments that they would have won the league had Gerrard and him stayed last season. Grant said, [Football Scotland]

“I thought some of the comments he made at the time were really strange, about Steven Gerrard. That they would have won the league if they were still there.

“They have to remember that they only won the league because there was no supporters. It’s easier to play without any fans.”

Many things went wrong that season, some within Celtic’s control and some outwith. The ban on fans inside the stadiums didn’t help the team, but the performances didn’t merit a league win.

Looking back, not winning the league that season can be seen as a positive. The club have worked hard to put new measures into place and brought in a top-class manager to lead the new project.
