SCOTT BROWN is enjoying his tenth year at the club and will celebrate by welcoming Ireland to Celtic Park next month for his testimonial.

However, he could have already reached his tenth year at Celtic before now according to Martin O’Neill.

Speaking ahead of bringing his Irish players to Celtic Park – O’Neill admitted the Celtic captain was already on his radar while he was Celtic manager:

“I absolutely remember Scott Brown when he was a young lad coming through at Hibs,”

“Both he and Kevin Thomson were the shining lights of what was a very good young Hibs team at the time.

“Not long after I left, Gordon Strachan signed Scott but he was a player who was most definitely on our radar.

“He did really well for Hibs and what I seem to recall is that he wasn’t afraid to get in about it when we played them. He wasn’t intimidated by some of the reputations that would have been in our team.”

Scott Brown went head to head with a few former Celtic players while at Hibs, the famous picture of Neil Lennon and him squaring up is a particular highlight.

It seems Brown was always destined to sign for Celtic, even if it was Strachan that finally signed him.
