Greg Taylor has been a steady option for Celtic at left-back over the past few years. Alexandro Bernabei was brought in to try and provide some competition, but his little impact is evident now that he’s on loan in Brazil.
This summer, Brendan Rodgers will likely look to strengthen the left side of the defence, and one player the Hoops were continually linked with in January was Owen Beck.

The Welshman looked set to join the champions but after Jurgen Klopp subbed him on for Liverpool against Bournemouth in January, a move to Parkhead was ruled out because he’d played for two clubs in 2023/24 by that point.
As a result, Beck returned to Dundee on loan for the second half of the campaign but he suffered several injury issues and hasn’t played since the beginning of March.
Ahead of a summer return to the Reds, Beck has said his goodbyes to those at Dens Park in a heartfelt message on X:
From the bottom of my heart I want to thank every single person involved with Dundee football club from the coaching staff, teammates, fans, and everyone else who has played a part in my time at the club. Beck now has two years left on his Liverpool deal. Given Celtic’s coherent need for a left-back and previous interest in the 21-year-old, coupled with his impressive season, a summer move might not be far away.
