Celtic-linked midfielder Kalidou Sidibe has addressed the growing speculation over a potential summer move to the Hoops, following reports that the Scottish champions are preparing a £1.7 million bid for the Guingamp powerhouse.

Sidibe Speaks Out on His Development
In an interview with Ouest-France, Sidibe reflected on his development this season, he said: “I’ve aged a year, and matured in my season here. I also think the team’s style of play has had an influence. We have more of the ball, we’re more in position with very clear positional play. I know exactly what I have to do when we have the ball. That’s what helps a lot. It allows me to bring out my qualities with the ball at my feet.”
Sidibe’s comments highlight his growing confidence and tactical awareness, which could be key if he were to join Brendan Rodgers’ squad in the summer ahead of Champions League qualifiers in August.
A Powerful Midfield Presence
Sidibe has been a standout performer for Guingamp in Ligue 2, playing a vital role in their push for promotion. The 6ft 6ins midfielder has featured in 31 matches, scoring twice, and has earned praise for his physicality, defensive awareness, and versatility. Capable of playing as a holding midfielder or even as a central defender, he could offer Rodgers an extra dimension in midfield.
Celtic’s Plans for the Midfield
With Jeffrey Schlupp’s loan deal set to expire and his future uncertain, Sidibe has been identified as a potential replacement according to reports. Africa Foot suggests that Celtic have already lined up an offer as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season’s European campaign.
Competition for His Signature
Celtic are not the only club interested in Sidibe. Ipswich Town, PSV Eindhoven, Toulouse, and Grasshoppers are all reportedly monitoring the midfielder, making it a competitive transfer race. However, with Guingamp’s promotion hopes hanging in the balance, they may be forced to sell if they fail to reach Ligue 1.

Could Sidibe Be Rodgers’ Midfield Enforcer?
With Champions League qualifiers on the horizon, Celtic need reinforcements in midfield, and Sidibe’s blend of physicality, composure, and positional intelligence could make him an ideal addition. If the Hoops can beat the competition to his signature, he could be a key player domestically and in Europe next season.
