Previously Celtic-linked [RecordSport] Bodo/Glimt star Ola Solbakken looks set to join recently crowned Conference League winners Roma.

The report comes via RomaPress.net, who state that Roma have agreed a deal to sign the Norwegian when his contract expires at the end of the year.

The 22-year-old was previously linked with Celtic as far back as last summer, when Celts are Here learned that Solbakken was offered to Celtic, but Celtic opted to go for Jota on loan from Benfica instead, a decision that ultimately paid off for the Hoops.

The right-winger was linked this summer as well though, with reports claiming that should a deal for Jota fail to arise, then Solbakken would be the alternative option. Thankfully for Celtic fans, reports state that Celtic are very close to announcing the signing of the Portuguese on a permanent deal.

Solbakken wouldn’t have been a bad option, fans will know this as we witnessed the peak of his powers first hand as he ran the show across both legs in Celtic’s Conference League exit to Bodo/Glimt.

However, fans will still be delighted if Celtic manage to pull off the permanent signing of Jota.

  1. We should have signed both Jota and Solbakken! I feel the club dropped the ball here letting this talented player slip through their grasp!

We need more first team depth in the wide forward areas, though I trust Ange to bring in the right players.
