Popular Italian football site Calcio Mercato have made the claim Celtic have shown an interest in Sampdoria player, Omar Colley.

Colley, 27, has spent two seasons in Italy after his move from Genk. The towering centre-back could be on the move this summer with Celtic a potential destination if the Italian sites reports are accurate.

The defender is a full international for Gambia and has attracted the interest of a lot of clubs around Europe.

Calcio Mercato claim Colley is on Celtic’s radar but they also report the sort of fee Sampdoria are looking to get for their defender and it would rule out the Scottish Champions.

A fee of €15m is being reported, a fee Celtic will simply not put up for any player.

Transfermarkt have Colley’s value at just under £5m, which would be manageable for the club but would they want to make another big-money signing after spending on Vasilis Barkas and Albian Ajeti for fees close to £10m.

Shane Duffy on loan appears to be a major avenue the club are looking to go down – Colley could be a plan B.
