CELTIC have been linked with Greek midfielder Dimitrios Kourbelis, with his contract due to expire in the summer.

He’s been a key player for Panathinaikos but has been unable to agree to a new contract, with it looking likely his seven-year spell at the club is coming to an end.

The relationship between the 29-year-old player and the club is also heading south. He was fined a substantial amount after he received two bookings in the space of seven minutes last month.

He’s played 19 league matches for his club this season, registering a goal and an assist. After making his international debut in 2017, Kournelis has also made 30 appearances for the Greek side.

The Herald, and many outlets, are running with the story, reporting Celtic’s interest in the player. However, The Rangers are also reportedly interested, and as we know, when both Glasgow clubs are linked to a player, nothing usually surfaces, and it’s just their agent trying to drive up a fee.

It’s one to keep an eye on, but nothing seems to have happened yet, with Celtic just interested in the player, as are many other clubs.

  1. I’ve not read things in detail but I doubt we’d want another midfielder or he would want a move to at best sit on the bench 😐

  2. ……….as for Sevco, its noticeable that every time a link to Celtic has been made for a player, the skint club is linked quickly afterwards ???
