CELTIC have been linked with Greek defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos as the player looks for a way out of Hamburg.

The 26-year-old who has plied his trade in Germany most of his career to date is looking to move on in the summer which has alerted a number of clubs.

It’s believed that Celtic are keeping a close eye on the German scene with their scouting team and hoping to unearth new talent as well as established.

The club recently signed Marvin Compper from Leipzig after scouting the 32-year-old over a number of months.

Kyriakos is a player who has yet to live up to some of the early promise and it would cost in the region of €4million to get Hamburg to part with the player.

Brendan Rodgers has plenty of options at centre back right now – with Erik Sviatchenko expected to be sold permanently in the summer there would certainly have to be some outs with Jozo Simunovic or Dedryk Boyata most likely to make way if a new defender did come in.
