Celtic have been linked with a move for Liverpool reserve and Union Berling striker Taiwo Awoniyi.

Taiwo Awoniyi seals loan switch to KAA Gent - Liverpool FC

The 23-year-old frontman has been playing in the Bundesliga with Union Berlin this term and has bagged five goals in thirteen appearances for his loan side.

Taiwo is contracted to the Anfield club until 2023 but could be available this summer according to RecordSport.

The Nigerian is well travelled for such a young age. He has played for two Belgian teams and two German sides since joining Liverpool.

He has continually been put out on loan which would be a red flag for most players but considering who’s in front of him in the Anfield pecking order, it can’t be used to write off the striker.

Taiwo has represented his country at under 17, under 20 and under 23 level. Celtic are not in need of any strikers at the moment but are likely to see an overhaul in the summer. It’s imperative the club are active now to make sure they’re not caught cold in the summer.
