Silly season has begun.

Over the weekend, Celtic have been linked with a move for a player who has won the Champions League with Barcelona and currently resides at Manchester City.

Claudio Bravo.

The Chilean is set to be out of contract with City this summer and according to SunSport, Celtic are running the rule over making a move for the goalkeeper.

At 37 years of age, it seems a bit pointless and far fetched. Bravo has had a top career at the highest level but it would fly in the face of Celtic’s signing policy.

We have Scott Bain on a long term deal at the moment. Craig Gordon is out of contract and Fraser Forster has returned to Southampton.

The goalkeeper area is something which will need addressed but bringing in a journeyman from Manchester City hardly seems like the answer.

Supporters first choice would be to get Fraser back on either another loan or a permanent deal.

  1. Repeating the same behaviour and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Having survived the introduction and demise of the clown Dorus Devries why would we want to spend even more money on another bigger liability. Under Brendan Rodgers the goalkeeper was his key to playing out from the back. He tried to trash Craig Gordon in the same way that Guadiola did to Joe Hart. The resultant “chuckle vision” style led to us being disgraced in Europe. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. If we can get Fraser Forster do so. If not then retain Craig Gordon for another year. He deserves this for his contribution so far.

  2. Celtic are always linked with everyone. However the biscuit tin mob rarely open the padlock. Celtic will buy young and develop. In Scottish football that is the best we can hope for. Rangers will splash out for over aged duds as usual in a hope they can buy success
