According to reports in the Glasgow Times, Celtic are keeping an eye on young Bulgarian striker Martin Minchev.

The 19-year-old is enjoying his first senior season in the Bulgarian league and has looked sharp. However, his return on 6 goals in 22 appearances is hardly anything to write home about yet.

Celtic have to look for talent in obscure places and bring players through with more than a few rough edges. Bringing them into the Celtic system, making them better and then selling on for a higher fee is what the club need to continue to do.

Most fans sulk when they see we’re linked with young players, mainly because a high percentage of them don’t work out. However, when they do work out there can be great reward.

Jeremie Frimpong is a man who was groaned about by some and he’s turned out to be a star. On the flip side of the coin, we’re still to see anything from Lee O’Connor and Jonathan Afolabi.

If Celtic have shown interest in the Bulgarian striker, it’s likely they are tracking his progress from afar.
