According to reports from CNN Turkey, Celtic are interested in bringing in Srdjan Babic from Red Star Belgrade.

The bhoys are without a manager but it’s highly possible the scouting team are lining up potential players so Neil Lennon or the new man can hit the ground running in the summer.

Babic, 22, played in three Champions League games for Red Star this season and also three of their qualifiers for the competition so he has experience at the top level.

The defender has also made 14 appearances in the league for his club this term.

It’s no secret Celtic need to bring in new centre backs this summer. Kristoffer Ajer may be set to take one of the centre back positions for his own as Filip Benkovic and Dedryck Boyata head for the exit but there will need to be at least one defender in the door.

Celtic need to settle their managerial position first before pulling the trigger on players BUT as we seen at the end of Brendan Rodgers’ term as manager, the club was signing players for the Irishman without him knowing much about them; the Maryan Shved deal being a perfect example.
