Celtic midfielder Liam Shaw will have to wait a little longer before making his Motherwell debut as Graham Alexander confirmed that the 20-year old is set to miss the Fir Park sides Scottish Cup clash with Morton.

During the winter break, Shaw made the move to North Lanarkshire in the hope of more regular game time after finding minutes hard to come by under Ange Postecoglou since joining in the summer.

It hasn’t been the ideal start for the former Sheffield Wednesday man, though, after missing the chance to make his debut on Tuesday night against Ross County due to an injury knock.

As quoted by the Daily Record, Well boss Alexander confirmed this afternoon that there would be no returning players to his squad this weekend, meaning the wait goes on for the Celtic loanee to make his debut in the Claret and Amber.

“We’ve got a couple of niggles and a couple of doubts for the game. A couple of boys took a knock or two. But we haven’t got anyone back who wasn’t available Tuesday.

“We will probably be a couple players down, but we will still have a strong enough team to perform to the levels required.”

Although Shaw might be left a little frustrated at not getting to play right away, it doesn’t sound as though the injury he picked up is anything too serious.

With the busy schedule of games in the second half of the campaign, it is likely we will see the youngster in the midfielder for Alexanders midfielder sooner rather than later.
