On-loan Celtic attacker Leigh Griffiths has been included in the Dundee squad that will face Rangers* this afternoon despite talks of a possible ban on the horizon.

As reported by STV, his manager – James McPake, confirmed he has no reservations about selecting the 30-year old striker despite him likely being given a ban for his actions in the League Cup tie against St Johnstone, and also added in the reception he will face in front of away crowds.

“I have absolutely no concerns about playing Leigh against Rangers, Hearts, whoever it is,” Dundee manager McPake said.

“I know Leigh as a character, and he’ll handle the occasion.”

We are only two months into the season, but the striker has always caused several problems for himself this early on.

Wednesday night’s incident, which saw him charged for kicking a flare into the St Johnstone crowd, was just another one to add to the list.

However, it looks likely that he will be in line for a start come 3 o’clock this afternoon. With the high possibility of a ban awaiting Griffiths, it might be his last appearance for the Dens Park side in a while, depending on the sort of suspension offered by the SFA.
