On loan Celtic full back Adam Montgomery is the latest Hoops player to be nominated for an end of season award.

The 20 year old has enjoyed a stellar season at St. Johnstone, making 30 appearances across all competitions for the Perth club who sit ninth in the table as we speak.

And as a result of his impressive displays in 2022/23 up to this point, Montgomery has been nominated for the Scottish Football Writers Association Young Player of the Year.

Up for the award alongside him is Motherwell’s Max Johnston, Lyall Cameron of Dundee and Charlie Reilly, who has made quite the impression for Albion Rovers this campaign.

We will find out whether or not Montgomery wins the award in Sunday newspapers before the SWFA’s annual awards dinner on May the 28th.

For Celtic last season, the left back did get a fair amount of game time, even assisting Jota’s crucial winner at Pittodire in a turning point victory in October 2021.

it remains to be seen where his future lies ahead of 2023/24 although his nomination for this award is only positive.
