Reports tonight suggest Celtic’s pursuit of Cameron Carter-Vickers is going well and the club are making progress over a permanent deal for the defender.

RecordSport revealed the two clubs are locked in talks over the financial package to turn the loan deal into a permanent Parkhead stay. The option to buy is rumoured to be around £6m but adding could take the deal well past that.

It’s thought Celtic are trying to figure out the finer points of the deal but seem confident of landing the American international.

If the Hoops go on and win the league this season, Champions League football would be just around the corner. If the bhoys secure a place at Europe’s top table the club believe CCV is ready to sign on for that adventure.

It also opens the door financially for Celtic to make the deal happen.

Simply put, CCV’s goal against The Rangers on Sunday could have very well secured his immediate future at the club.

There’s still interest from elsewhere and as we’ve learned oh so many times, nothing is done until it’s signed, sealed and delivered. Let’s hope the board can get this one over the line.
