BRENDAN RODGERS has made the admission Celtic are now looking to END Marvin Compper’s deal after no club has shown any real interest in signing the German currently.

Marvin was signed in the 2018 January transfer window and has only played 83 minutes of football for Celtic since coming to the club.

Due to injuries and perhaps other issues, Marvin has found himself on the outside looking in on Celtic’s first team squad and you only see him during training. The defender spoke back in November about moving on in this window if there was interest in him but as the clock ticks down to January 31, this looks increasingly unlikely.

With the scenario, Compper could take more time to move on, the club are now looking to negotiate a settlement with the player and his reps to end his Celtic Park stay.

Asked if there was any update on Marvin, Rodgers told CelticTV:“There’s nothing as of yet – the club are speaking to Marvin’s representatives to try and find a solution.”

With Celtic fans desperate to see a defender coming in the way, it will be a little galling the club are locked in talks to try and end Compper’s contract when there are pressing matters.
