CELTIC are bracing themselves for more than one bid for their star defender Virgil van Dijk’s services before the end of the window on September 1st.

The Dutch Defender has admitted he would like to move on and it’s almost certain that he will – providing the price is right.

With that in mind Celtic and Ronny Deila have been weighing up their defensive options. if Virgil were to leave it would leave a massive hole in the middle of defence with only Efe Ambrose and Charlie Mulgrew to plug the gap. Two options many fans would admit is not ideal.

That’s why they have turned to Chelsea Defender Kenneth Omeruo as a possible signing if the Dutchman departs.

The 21-year-old defender has been at Chelsea since 2012 and has spent successful loan spells out at Den Haag and most recently Middlesbrough.

He is now back at Stamford Bridge and not in Jose Mourinho’s first team plans, the player is said to be considering his options.

Celtic are considering bringing the Nigerian International on-loan as he still has 3-years to run on his contract and it’s not clear if Chelsea have long term plans for him.

Knowing Celtic, Kenneth wont be the only player they are targeting. They are in no hurry to make this decision after John Collin’s stated that they would look to keep Van Dijk at Celtic until after the Champions League qualifiers.
