This one comes completely out of the blue and we’re not sure what to make of it.

Teamtalk is reporting Celtic have put a £3m bud in for Patrick Roberts.

We find it a bit bizarre that our club and more specifically Peter Lawwell would be trying to throw any money about with so much uncertainty surrounding football finances.

We don’t have a finish to this season but apparently we’re putting in bids for players — it seems a bit pie in the Sky.

Roberts spent the first half of this season on loan to Norwich where he didn’t get played and during the January window cut his deal short to sign on loan with M’boro.

Since leaving Celtic the winger has not had the best of luck with injuries. Even his final season at Celtic was curtailed by injury. This would lend more credence to this bid not being the case.

Roberts would have been out of contract at the end of this season but signed up to a new City deal this season – presumably so the club can get some of its money back for a fee down the line.

They paid £12m a few years back from Fulham, so a £3m wouldn’t even be appealing.
