Celtic have released an update for fans surrounding the current ticketing situation ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League tie against Ferencvaros.

At first, it was not expected that any Hoops fans travelling to Hungary would be granted access into the game due to the vaccine certification issues between countries across Europe.

However, with the recent change, which will see EU countries now accepting UK vaccination certificates, many fans have pondered the question as to whether there will now be tickets made available just days before the fixture is set to take place.

This evening, Celtic released a statement giving fans the latest on what they had heard – revealing that nothing has changed as of yet, but there is potential that they may hear more on the matter by tomorrow at the earliest.

“For clarification, there has, as yet, been no approval for Celtic supporters to access the match against Ferencvaros in Budapest on Thursday.

“Following confirmation that the EU will now accept the UK vaccine certificate, Celtic has been in contact with Ferencvaros and we have been informed that Hungarian authorities have not yet agreed any change to the legislation which would be required to allow access to the match.

“Potentially, we may receive some news on this issue tomorrow (Tuesday) at the very earliest but we have received no indication with regards to the outcome.

“We will update supporters as soon as possible if there is a change to the current position.”

With some supporters likely to have already booked a trip in the hope of seeing Ange Postecoglou’s side in action, it would be great to see, at the very least, some away fans in the ground on Thursday.

Fingers crossed, they are given a chance to watch the Hoops on the road in Europe for the first time since 2019.
