It’s now official!

Dominic McKay will take on his new role at Celtic later this month.

The new chief executive’s SRU contract did not finish until the end of June at which point McKay was scheduled to move to Celtic at the start of July.

It would have left the McKay playing catch up as Celtic embark on a Champions League qualifying campaign and SPFL season opener less than a month after his scheduled arrival.

Now he has time to sit down, assess and more importantly be given the proper handoff by outgoing CEO Peter Lawwell.

The current chief exec will step down after 18 years in charge at the club. Celtic fans have had their ups and downs with Lawwell. In Europe we’ve been found wanting a lot but domestically we have dominated.

McKay’s remit will be to run the club efficiently and help a new manager with what he needs to regain the SPFL title.
