According to Spanish journalist Albert Roge, Celtic have made a move for the highly rated Barcelona midfielder Alex Collado.

Collado has come through the ranks at Barcelona, playing for the B side and moving to the main squad last year. Alex then went out on loan to Granada last season but has since returned to the Camp Nou.

The 23-year-old is looking for a move away from the Catalans in search of first team football and according to Roge, the player would prefer a team playing in Europe.

The Spaniard can play centre mid, attacking mid and on the right wing.

His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, so he could be available for a cut price.

TransferMarkt has Alex valued at £3.6m for whatever that’s worth.

Ange Postecoglou told CeltsAreHere.com earlier this month the club would remain agile in the transfer market and and be ready to move for a player if an opportunity arose. Could Alex be the sort of opportunity the manager was talking about?

The last Barca youngster Celtic signed was Marc Crosas under Gordon Strachan. The midfielder didn’t have the best of Celtic careers but he’s still a Celtic fan to this day.
