According to reports overnight, Celtic have officially made a bid for Kilmarnock defender Greg Taylor but now find themselves in a fight with Sunderland to secure the player’s signature.

According to RecordSport, Kilmarnock have bids on the table from both clubs but don’t mention how much has been put on the table by Celtic.

Peter Lawwell lost John McGinn to Aston Villa last season because he slept on the deal, we could have lost David Turnbull for the exact same reason but the lad decided he wanted to come to Celtic before his medical flagged an issue. Now it looks like the same thing is happening again with the club being forced into action if reports are true.

The English window is only closed for the Premier League and Championship – League One and League Two are still allowed to do deals right up until Monday evening.

Jack Ross knows all about the Scottish game and must see value in a deal for Taylor.
