CELTIC have this morning put out a statement to the London stock exchange to confirm Neil Lennon is no longer the manager of the football club.

The club have an obligation to declare any major operational changes when they happen and today has been no different.

Neil Lennon is no longer the manager of Celtic and the club have said he has resigned.

The short statement read:

Neil Lennon to depart Celtic:

Celtic PLC confirms that first team manager, Neil Lennon, has resigned and will leave the Club with immediate effect. The Club would like to thank Neil for his outstanding contribution during his time at Celtic as manager. John Kennedy will assume the role of interim manager effective immediately.

John Kennedy will take the team for the last eight games before a new man will come in this summer to start a major rebuild.

By that time Peter Lawwell will have also stepped down from his post and Dominic McKay will be the new chief executive.

This season has been a horror show for the club and while you never want to see anyone lose their job, it’s been evident for a long time now, Neil should have left the post.

Celtic didn’t put in a meaningful defence of their league title and challenge for that elusive ten, the team hasn’t responded to the manager and it was more than time for a change.

Neil Lennon got more time in the role than I believe many others would have.

We wish him all the best.
