Portuguese press have issued a further update on the future of Jota with the player looking likely to make the move to Glasgow permanent.

It was reported last night by journalist Fabrizio Romano that Celtic had confirmed to Benfica their intention to trigger to the option to buy clause to permanently sign the Portuguese winger.

With it being stated that the only thing holding the deal up was personal terms, it looks as though the Hoops are acting swiftly with it being reported by O Jogo  that an agreement on personal terms was set to be resolved ‘in the next few hours.’

This is once again a huge statement of intent from Celtic as the club prepares itself to once again enter the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Cameron Carter-Vickers has already been signed with a significant fee and it looks as though Jota is about to do the same with both players having similar loan deals with options to buy. A strategy Celtic could really benefit from going forward.

It is absolutely crucial that the club keep ahold of our top players with Jota being one of the standouts on loan last season.

He played a total of 40 games in all competitions last season, scoring 13 goals and getting 14 assists. There is much more to come from the 23 year old and the prospect of him working alongside Harry Kewell is exciting.
