Former Celtic player Jonny Hayes has been appointed as a coach for the Celtic B team, Celtic have confirmed on their website.

This move follows recent shifts in the coaching staff, with Darren O’Dea stepping up as pathways manager and Stephen McManus taking sole charge as head coach of the B team.

Hayes announced his retirement from professional football just a few months ago and turned down opportunities at Aberdeen to head back down the road to Celtic.

During his time at the Hoops, he was a key player, contributing well to the team’s success. He played the role of a squad player in several trophy-winning campaigns and is well remembered for his time at Celtic.

His appointment as a coach is seen as a positive step for the development of Celtic’s youth players.

The club also confirmed the appointment of Adam Ashgar as the club’s Under 18s manager. He had announced the appointment some weeks ago on his LinkedIn page, but the official announcement has just come.

The announcement came from the club after reports this morning suggested that academy graduate Daniel Kelly could leave the club when his contract expires in January.
