MARIAN SHVED is nearing the Celtic exit. Mechelen sports director, Tom Caluwe has claimed the club are working on a deal to bring in Shved on a permanent basis and is hopeful a deal is going to be completed.

The Hoops winger has never been given a run in the team; his attitude towards training was seemingly a large contributing factor to his disastrous Celtic spell.

Shved was signed by the Celtic scouting network when Brendan Rodgers was still in charge. The Irishman famously claimed he had enough wingers when he was asked about the player.

Speaking to Belgian Outlet, GVA, Caluwe said “There is no need for this to be kept a secret. We want Marian to sign and we are trying to reach an agreement as soon as possible.

“We really need a player with his profile.

“The talks are going in the right direction and of course you have to be careful because nothing is agreed upon until the transfer is actually completed.

“But we are extremely hopeful he will sign very soon.”

Celtic signed Liel Abada this summer; the Israeli winger cis clearly higher up the pecking order, especially after his goal against Midtjylland.

Shved didn’t even return to Celtic for pre-season and had no intention of resuming his hoops career after his loan to Mechelen. It’s best for all parties if a deal is done, hopefully Celtic can recoup some of the money which was spent on him.
