On-loan Celtic midfielder Luca Connell has added his second goal of the season for Queens Park, as they were dramatically beaten 4-3 by Alloa Athletic on Sunday.

The Irishman started on the bench for the Spiders after returning from a short injury that saw him miss last week’s victory over Dumbarton.

Coming on with 11 minutes to play, Connell looked to immediately impact off the bench as he started to threaten set-pieces with his dangerous delivery. He also smashed a 30-yard dead-ball strike off the inside of the post moments after coming on.

In the 88th minute, the 20-year old thought he had scored the game’s winning goal to put Queens 3-2 up. He finished off a lovely counter-attacking move by the current leaders of League One, driving the ball into an empty net.

Despite Connell’s best efforts, Queens Park somehow came away from the game with zero points as Alloa scored two late goals of their own in stoppage time to inflict Queens with their first defeat of the season.

That goal means Connell has scored two goals in just four appearances so far this season. Having made just one start, it looks to be a good return in the early stages of the campaign, and he will be hoping to continue that form as the season goes on.
