Celtic forward Sead Haksabanovic had admitted that he is relishing the idea of thriving in the shadow of Celtic legend, Henrik Larsson.

The 23-year old who represents Montenegro at international level was born in Hyltebruk.  He represented Sweden at both under-17 and under-19 level but opted to play for the country where his family hails from.

Majority of his career has been spent playing in the Allsvenskan where he has played for Halmstads BK, IFK Norrköping and Djurgården with him Haksabanovic being a well known figure in Swedish football.

There has been plenty of role models to look up to in Swedish football with Henrik Larsson and Zlatan Ibrahimovic being two of the best know.

“I looked up to these guys a lot,” said Sead Haksabanovic speaking to The Herald.

“Henrik’s son (Jordan) is my good friend. So I know a lot about what he has done here. I have seen clips of it.

“So, I am just going to do my best and see if I can achieve 10 per cent of what he did.”

There was some rumours in the summer about a possible move for Jordan to Celtic with the 25-year old being versatile across the front three and available on the cheap.

Many fans would have been worried that the former Spartak Moscow forward would have been compared to his father.

Haksabanovic fortunately doesn’t have that pressure but knows what the expectations are at the club.

“I have heard that, but I think he would have to do too much if he came here. There would be too much pressure.

“I didn’t [speak to Jordan before I came here] because I didn’t want anybody to know. But he messaged me when it was done and said: ‘We are happy for you, it’s a great club, they will take care of you, if you need anything you can ask me’.”

Haksabanovic has not been able to make too much of an impression since joining Celtic in the summer be he will be hoping to kick on in the next few weeks but has admitted that he is honoured to be playing Champions League football for the Hoops.

“It’s a dream to play in the Champions League.”

“When I was playing football as a kid I watched the Champions League and when I was running around playing with my friends I would be screaming about being in the Champions League, and now I’m going to play in it. Who was I pretending to be back then? Ronaldinho, maybe.

“It’s just amazing and my friends are really happy for me as well. It’s the biggest stage. It’s where everyone wants to get to.”
