It was already a huge afternoon in the Scottish Premiership title race before Motherwell’s social media team added the perfect little extra for Celtic supporters.

Rangers had the chance to respond at Ibrox after Celtic’s 3-1 win over Falkirk on Saturday. Instead, they collapsed into another damaging result in a season that keeps finding new ways to twist.

Motherwell took a 2-0 lead in the first half, putting Ibrox on edge and handing Rangers another pressure moment to deal with.

The home side fought back to 2-2, and at that stage, plenty of Celtic fans watching on would have feared the momentum had turned. Then came the stoppage-time blow.

Motherwell found their winner in the 92nd minute, sealing a remarkable 3-2 win and taking three points off Rangers at a crucial stage of the run-in.

It was another massive swing in a title race that nobody has under control. The Hoops did their part against Falkirk, with Daizen Maeda scoring twice and Kieran Tierney also on target. By Sunday afternoon, Rangers had failed to do theirs.

Then came the clip.

Among the Motherwell celebrations was Stephen Welsh, the on-loan Celtic defender, absolutely loving life inside the halls of Ibrox.

The Steelmen were quick to post footage of Welsh screaming in celebration after full-time, and it did not take long for the clip to make its way around Celtic circles.

Welsh is not just any loan player in this story.

He came through at Celtic, he is known to be Celtic-daft, and he will understand exactly what Motherwell’s result means with four games to go. While he was there doing his job for his loan club, there is no pretending he would be blind to the wider picture.

Every little helps in a title race this tight.

His Celtic future beyond this season looks uncertain. Welsh has never truly nailed down a regular place at the back, and with another summer of decisions coming at Parkhead, a permanent move could be possible.

But whatever happens next, he has had his own small part to play in a massive day for the title race.

You can see why the clip travelled quickly.
