CELTIC must resist the temptation to spend over the odds on Odsonne Edouard in the summer – even after his Ibrox heroics on Sunday.

The Frenchman was the most composed man in the ground as he shifted his feet and coolly slotted the ball in the top right-hand corner of the Ibrox net.

However, while he showed great guts, determination and finesse and has shown glimpses of ability the asking fee for the player is just far too high.

The fee to bring in the player permanently sits between £7-8million which isn’t a lot by man clubs standards but for Celtic – if they were to spend that cash it needs to be for someone as close to the finished article as possible.

While Edouard has potential, he doesn’t have £8million worth of potential.

I believe that Celtic should try and strike a deal with PSG who are unlikely to play Edouard or even attempt to get him first team ready to play alongside their millionaire superstars.

If the club could strike a deal with PSG in the region of £3million with add-ons – I think most fans would welcome the deal.

It’s easy to get carried away after seeing what the big man did at Ibrox, but Celtic must look at the bigger picture.

Brendan Rodgers praise of the youngster after Sunday was very high and should Celtic get the opportunity to sign Edouard; I think they will.

The price has to be right.

  1. This was discussed last week , and here we go again because we’ve got to make up something, we all know 7 is far too much, 4 to 5 max , it has to be acknowledged, the big man is young and has plenty of potential, to be punted at higher value in few years, so he fits our criteria, would be a good addition
