The Price of football are on the ball when it comes to football finances. They regularly let their readers know what’s going on at clubs up and down the United Kingone – including Celtic.

Today, they focused on Hibernian’s finances after over a year in the pandemic and it’s similar to clubs across the board. Less revenue and bigger losses.

Hibernian, like Celtic, will have to make sales in the summer to balance their books and find their way forward.

The Hoops will be operating in a much bigger market where they will be able to sell one or two of their players for over £10m.

It’s clear the club needs to reinvest that cash in new players. Given Celtic have been linked with Kevin Nisbet [SunSport] overnight and Josh Doig is on many supporters radars, now seems to be the best time to make deals like that happen.

All clubs in the SPFL will look to sell if they can get the right price for their players. It’s imperative Celtic look at this market firstly.

Celtic need a mixture of fresh and hungry SPFL players who know the league as well as top talent from elsewhere in Europe.

Striking the balance is hard but as football recalibrates after the pandemic – we must look into the SPFL market and get value.

Anyone who says there’s not much value in the league is kidding themselves on. You just need to look at John McGinn or Stuart Armstrong as examples of players who both came from SPFL clubs to star in the EPL. There are bargains to be had!
