Former Leeds United and Aberdeen striker, Noel Whelan has claimed that Gavin Strachan could well become manager one day.

Speaking to Football Insider, Whelan has insisted that his former Coventry City teammate will be a superb addition to Neil Lennon’s backroom staff

I played with Gavin at Coventry and he has been in coaching for a long, long time now. A young mind who knows his coaching. Somebody that wants to progress again and going to Celtic will give him great experience.

I am sure in the long future there will be a manager’s position there for him. He has got aspirations and a desire to go higher and is definitely going in the right direction.

It’s a superb move for both coach and club. I wish Gavin all of the best there. He has got the experience from his Dad as well. But he is his own man and he has learned his trade in the right way.”

Gavin Strachan does seem to come with heavy praise from many of his peers/former teammates. It is clear to see the club have certainly done their homework when it has come to recruiting, Lennon’s new number three

Many fans will be hoping that Gavin can be just as successful as his dad when it comes to working with the club.

He will probably want to go down a similar path as his old man did by going into managements. Although he may have a future career as a manager, it will probably be unlikely that it is at Celtic. With a lot of talk and praise going towards John Kennedy, in terms of being a future manager at the club.
