Although there has been a clamour from some fans since Sunday for Celtic to look at Louis Moult in January when the player reaches the last six months of his contract it would appear he’s not on Celtic’s radar.

The Englishman who has been a consistent performer and scorer for Motherwell will look at his options in January after he told the media he ‘has to do what’s best for his family’ if a better financial offer comes in.

Even though he is a proven SPFL goalscorer, there are currently no plans at the moment for Celtic to pursue Louis.

Of course, things could change but Head of Recruitment Lee Congerton has been tasked with helping Brendan Rodgers firm up his defensive options in January and with Leigh Griffiths, Moussa Dembele and Edouard already on the books it would seem silly to bring a 4th striker in to fight for one spot.

Moult will come up against Celtic in the League Cup Final next month after dumping Rangers* out of the competition with a brace, his second goal in-particular showed the players quality.

Would you like to see Celtic sign Moult on a pre-contract?

  1. I would sign him. I would have signed him last January before signing Edouard, who I don’t expect them to take any option on. Moult is strong, holds the ball up well and scores a variety of goals. I would have him, BR would turn him into a more rounded player, but the priority is definitely defensively.
