Celtic have just been drawn at home to Saint Johnstone in the 5th round of the Scottish Cup. The current holders are now set to play Saints three times in a fortnight. Fixture dates for the 5th round have not yet been made official but the triple-header is very much on the cards.

Last season Celtic had a similar situation with Motherwell. The defending champions already have two dates scheduled with Saints. The two teams will face off with league duties on Wednesday the 30th of January at Celtic Park and again on the 3rd of February at McDiarmid Park.

Celtic now know the third encounter will be played at Celtic Park and a kick off time should be made available in the next few hours. The Hoops made sure yesterday that any hope of a “Treble Treble” winning season was still on track last night as they brushed Airdrie aside.

Saint Johnstone will provide a much sterner challenge to Celtic’s crowns. Celtic will face Hibs before the teams meet for the 3rd time. The familiarity over the three games could work or backfire on Celtic’s plans to win all trophies available to them this season. Brendan Rodgers also has the small matter of a Europa League clash against Valencia to contend with.

But this is the way it is for the biggest club in Scotland for the past few years.
