Celtic are on the verge of wrapping up their first January deal!

Reports overnight suggest a deal is all but done to bring in Reo Hatate from Kawasaki Frontale.

RecordSport confirm Celtic have agreed terms with the player who is out of contract at the end of January.

Vitally, Reo’s current club won’t stand in the way of an early January transfer and will allow him to link up with compatriot Kyogo Furuhashi in January.

It’s thought Celtic’s haste to sign the versatile 24-year-old is the worry over potential new restrictions being brought in over the next month or so.

The left back who can also play centre mid could be a Celtic player as soon as the clock strikes midnight on Hogmanay.

The deal would signify Celtic trusting Ange Postecoglou’s judgement when it comes to transfers. Combing the J-League for top talent who can fit into the Australian’s system.

Hatate has been ever present for Kawasaki Frontale this season. He has also represented his country at the Olympic’s.
