Celtic are edging closer to the permanent signing of their current loan bhoy Jota according to reports.
We know talks between Celtic and Benfica have been going on since the end of December. RecordSport now claim the bhoys are on the brink of landing the Portuguese winger on a full time basis!
Celtic inserted an option to buy the midfielder at the start of the season and it looks to have paid of massively.
The two clubs have had a starting point and we understand the structuring of the deal is the biggest talking point between the parties.
Celtic will not want to part with the whole amount for Jota in the one go. It means they need to set up payments and deadlines the fee needs to be paid by.
There’s also likely going to be payouts for certain first team targets being met. It wouldn’t surprise us to find out Benfica want a cut of any future fee.
The fact we’re in talks and could have this deal wrapped up six months early is very unlike Celtic. This transfer window is becoming a dream!
Jota has been out injured since pulling up against Hearts at Celtic Park. He was also missing from Celtic’s Lennoxtown training session on Friday. We don’t know yet when he’ll be available to play.
