CELTIC are set to announce their summer scout Nicky Hammond as full time head of recruitment after a successful transfer window.

Hammond had come in on a temporary basis in July to help with the club’s recruitment drive for the 19/20 season. Celtic didn’t want to commit to Hammond before he proved his credentials after being burned so badly with the Brendan Rodgers appointed Lee Congerton.

According to Sunsport – Celtic are now close to confirming the full-time signing of Hammond who will oversee the club’s recruitment going forward. It appears since coming to the club, Hammond has been quietly going about his business and maybe has already acquired targets for January.

Celtic had a tough three years of recruitment under Congerton with many more misses than hits. The Englishman headed down to join Rodgers at Leicester back in the summer and the Celtic support were happy to see him go.

Hammond has proven he can get deals over the line and can be credited with bringing in a lot of the young guys including Jeremie Frimpong.

  1. Good to hear this.

Some of the signings made this summer have been great. I think El Hamed is a fantastic buy, rarely puts a foot wrong. When you aren’t taking about your defence they are doing their job.
