According to The Scotsman, Celtic are holding talks with Liverpool over a potential testimonial for their captain Scott Brown.
Broony is in his tenth season with the club and recently enjoyed a testimonial dinner with players and fans.
It’s thought that the testimonial will take place in the close season and that Brown would like to welcome Liverpool for the occasion.
There is plenty of history between the two clubs and recent, Brendan Rodgers almost lead Liverpool to the Premier League title just a few years ago – only to be scuppered at the death. Liverpool also have former Celtic player Virgil van Dijk in their ranks who would jump at the opportunity to play in Paradise one more time.
Broony has been a fantastic servant for the club and could be on his way to another treble before any testimonial takes place.
It would be a great occasion if Celtic and Liverpool got together for this.
I thought the days of players staying at a club long enough to get a testimonial were long gone so well done Broony. I’m sure no-one would begrudge him this now he is playing the best football of his career under Brendan.
[…] The independent testimonial committee has already expressed a desire to organise Broony’s testimonial game in the summer and are currently in talks with Liverpool about being the opposition. […]
