Express Sports journalist Ryan Taylor has claimed Celtic have indeed held talks with Manchester City over a move for Ko Itakura.

The Japanese defender has spend time out on loan at Groningen but will not be returning to the Dutch club this summer.

Ko and his representatives will be looking at his next move in the game and with just one-year left on his City deal, Celtic are looking to convince the centre-back to join Ange Postecoglou’s revolution at Celtic Park.

Ange certainly has a great knowledge of Japanese players and Celtic have already dipped into the market – signing Kyogo Furuhashi from the J-League.

Ko has 5 caps for Japan and is at the Olympics with his country right now.

If Celtic can strike a deal with Manchester City, Ko could be the next in a line of players to come from Man City to Celtic.

Jason Denayer came on loan, Boyata was signed on a permanent basis from the English club.

Patrick Roberts had a great time while in the Hoops also. Daniel Arzani didn’t fair so well.

Celtic are on the look out for defensive reinforcements and Ko would be a great piece of business.
