Celtic Park Set for Summer Makeover

Celtic Park appears set for a fresh addition this summer, with supporters spotting what looks to be a new mural taking shape inside the stadium.

Images circulating online suggest the artwork depicts legendary captain Billy McNeill holding aloft the European Cup following Celtic’s historic triumph in Lisbon in 1967.

The mural is said to be located within the North Stand concourse area, where a number of existing pieces of artwork already celebrate key moments and figures from the club’s history.

As captain of the Lisbon Lions, McNeill led Celtic to their greatest achievement and remains one of the most iconic figures in the club’s history.

The artwork would also arrive during a significant year, with the 2026/27 campaign marking the 60th anniversary season of that famous European Cup victory.

Celtic Park has gradually added more murals and historical displays in recent years, helping to bring the club’s story to life throughout the stadium.

Supporters have generally welcomed those additions, and this latest piece looks set to be another popular feature.

The existing artwork throughout the North Stand already helps create a sense of identity and history, and adding another tribute to one of Celtic’s greatest ever captains feels entirely fitting.

There is still a long summer ahead before the turnstiles reopen for fans to see it fully.

But there should be plenty to keep fans occupied.

Between Scotland’s World Cup campaign, Celtic’s transfer activity and Martin O’Neill’s preparations for his first full season back in charge, there will be no shortage of talking points over the coming weeks.

The wait for a return to Paradise will eventually end when Celtic welcome AC Milan to Glasgow for a glamour pre-season friendly in July.
