Celtic could be set to bank an unexpected cash boost, with La Liga side Sevilla reportedly weighing up a move for Alexandro Bernabei. Six months after selling the out-of-favour full-back for £4million, Celtic could be about to land more cash from another transfer.
According to the RecordSport, Sevilla are among a number of clubs showing serious interest in the Argentine defender. Thanks to a sell-on clause inserted into Bernabei’s contract when he left Glasgow for Internacional, Celtic are in line to receive a portion of any future transfer fee.

Internacional, who snapped up Bernabei in January, are said to be facing significant financial difficulties, having recently posted losses in the region of £6million. Those struggles could force the Brazilian side into selling some of their more valuable assets to balance the books — with Bernabei among those attracting attention.
The left-back endured a mixed spell at Celtic following his arrival from Lanús in 2022, making just 28 appearances over two seasons.
Greg Taylor cemented his place as Celtic’s first-choice left-back under both Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou, leaving Bernabei unable to break into the starting XI. His defensive struggles and off-field problems further hampered his chances of making an impact in Glasgow.

While Bernabei has since looked to rebuild his career in South America, the interest from Sevilla could offer him a second chance to crack European football — and provide Celtic with a financial bonus as they plan for the summer transfer window.
Should a deal go through, the extra funds could help Brendan Rodgers strengthen his squad, with the club already planning key additions ahead of a crucial 2025/26 campaign in Scotland and in Europe.
