CELTIC could receive a boost this week if the domestic transfer window in England ends without Alfie Doughty moving to a new club.

Glasgow Times reported two Celtic bids for the Charlton player in the last window but chose not to go in with a third. The reason behind dropping interest was Alfie is approaching the end of his contract and will be free to sign a pre-contract for a new club in January.

The Scottish Champions could very well make their move in January and perhaps get Alfie in early for a small fee.

There’s no rush to get the player in with Diego Laxalt in on loan for the rest of the season.

Alfie was high up the list of Celtic targets and it would be very strange to see the club drop interest altogether. Unless Alfie moves on or signs a new deal, the link between the left-sided player and Celtic will remain.
