The Premiership took a step closer to ending prematurely this week which will not be an easy or satisfying decision when it happens, but certainly the right call.

The null and void option was never on the table because of the financial implications of wiping the season from history.

However, there are still financial implications for clubs. There were eight games to go and season ticket holders paid in advance to be at the home games.

This leaves the club in a position where it’s in debt to fans who are due money back – even if supporters don’t want it.

While many Celtic supporters have already admitted online they’d shun any type of refund from the club for the games not being played – it looks like Celtic are making provisions to do so.

A new page has popped up on the online portal which gives season ticket holders access to ‘cashback’ – This hasn’t been on the site until the last week or so.

The option to withdraw money will be there, however, it looks like there’ll be an option to keep the money in the account and use it for future tickets.

This can only be actioned if/when the league is called early but it looks like Celtic will be ready. Given the split was still to happen plus another Glasgow derby at home, there could be a decent amount of cash returning to supporters and to 52k supporters at that!

We’d love to see the club asking fans for how they want to use the cash. Donating it to the foundation or putting it towards merchandise would also be something a lot of supporters would appreciate.
