Frank McAvennie has taken aim at Alfredo Morelos, describing him as a ‘joke figure’. The former Celtic striker believes that any talk of the striker moving to Serie A is nothing more than a ploy from his agent.
The former Celtic hero was not very impressed with Rangers‘ Colombian forward this season and thought he was “so far removed from reality”. He noted that the player and his agents seemed to be in their own little world.
It’s been a running joke in Scottish football among opposition fans. Who will Alfredo be linked with this week?
McAvennie venting what a lot of people have been saying online for years.
He told Football Insider: “I can’t see that happening.
“I think his agent is just talking up nonsense. Apparently, all these clubs want him, but there is not a chance. I was laughing.
“It is not going to do the player any good, his agent talking like that.
“He thinks he is still a superstar and he is not, he is so far removed from reality.
“I do not take much notice of Morelos anymore because he has become a joke figure.
“I think Rangers fans just want him to get back to playing football and stop all this. He is not going to sign a contract.“
Morelos failed to make much of an impact in the last Glasgow Derby game. The bhoys didn’t play well on the day but still came away with a point from their rivals’ turf.
We all love a good transfer rumour, but Alfredo transfer bingo has run its course.
