Celtic are looking to move forward with the signing of Adam Idah after his successful loan spell. Rodgers has expressed a strong desire to retain the striker following Idah’s pivotal role in securing the Scottish Cup for Celtic. RecordSport indicate that the club is committed to meeting Rodgers’ demands to try and keep the Irish striker at Celtic Park for next season.
Idah, who has been on loan from Norwich City, scored a last-minute winner against Rangers, clinching a Double for Celtic this season. During his six-month stint in Glasgow, the 23-year-old netted nine goals in 19 appearances, delivering key performances at Easter Road, Ibrox, and Rugby Park, which were instrumental in Celtic’s league title victory.
Norwich City is reportedly seeking upwards of £6 million for Adam. However, the managerial vacancy at Norwich, following David Wagner’s departure, could impact negotiations, especially if the new manager wants to assess Idah before the season starts. Despite this uncertainty, Celtic are pressing ahead with their plans to secure Idah, aiming to strengthen their squad for the Champions League.
The Celtic boss has been highly complimentary of Idah, particularly after his dramatic 90th-minute winner in the Scottish Cup final against Rangers, highlighting the striker’s critical contribution to the team.
Celtic fans appear to be in agreement the deal to bring in Idah permanently should be done. He feels like a proper replacement for Giakoumakis who left Celtic more than a year ago.
