SPURS boss Antonio Conte has been told he must reduce the club’s wage bill in order to bring in players in January. [Spurs Web]

Conte, who was appointed partway through the season, will be looking to offload fringe players and those who are out on loan so that he can bring in players that fit his system.

It goes without saying that Celtic’s center-back, Cameron Carter-Vickers, is on loan from the London club with Celtic pushing to make the deal become permanent.

The fee is believed to be in the region of £6 million with some add ons but the club is at the negotiating table trying to work on a new deal.

Celtic could use the situation Conte finds himself in and try to force through a cheaper deal. Carter-Vickers is part of the best defence in the league and his performances have been top-notch.

A deal for the American international would be a superb piece of business by the club.
